Why We're Building This
There were many times when I struggled to respond effectively to the level of threat my kids were experiencing, especially when my own emotions were activated. Learning how to first support myself helped me be a more centered and regulated parent through the many storms involved in raising children.

What the App Is Designed to Support
Exercises are informed by Advanced Applied Neuroscience principles and storytelling techniques designed to drive meaningful change. The skills you will be practicing have been proven to help parents build skills for navigating stress, threat, and emotional discomfort; first within themselves, and over time, in ways that pass down to their children.

Parents Have Emotions Too
This app isn’t about nervous-system regulation or EQ skills. It’s about the moments when you know you want to respond calmly, but lose it anyway. Or when your own reaction to your child’s emotions makes it harder to support them the way you want to.
It's not about giving you more tips, advice, or strategies your reasoning brain already understands. Instead, the app is designed to help train the emotional part of the brain, the systems that shape how you react in the moment, so that a different response becomes more available when you need it most.
Why We're Starting with Focus Groups
Before building the app itself, we want to ensure the features we're offering are effective for parents with a wide range of personal challenges and perspectives. During this early pilot, our team will guide participants through the transformation process, offering close support while learning what's genuinely useful, what feels burdensome or unclear, and what parents most need from a resource like this.

Untangling Emotional Triangles
By training the emotional systems in your brain to respond to unpleasant emotions in ways that are more aligned with the parent you already know you want to be, you can reduce your own stress, respond more supportively to your child’s emotions, and model how to engage with difficult emotions more effectively.
How you respond shapes three things at once: your relationship with your own emotions, your relationship with your child, and your child’s relationship with their own emotions.
The App Is New. The Method Isn’t.
KCI has used Advanced Applied Neuroscience techniques to support transformation for nearly two decades. We’ve trained and certified hundreds of executive and life coaches to use the same storytelling-based methods that now power the app, with significant success. The app may be new, but the science and techniques behind it have been developed, applied, and refined over many years.
What You'll Receive
This isn’t about perfection, and it isn’t parenting education. It’s about training the emotional systems of your brain to respond differently to difficult emotions in real time - so you have greater access to the calm and confidence you need to guide your child through theirs.
In exchange for your time and feedback, you’ll get: free access to this transformational tool, personalized support from our team throughout the process, and 6 months of free access when the app launches (a value of approximately $300).
What Participating Involves
We're inviting 12 parents to join. The pilot runs for about 15–20 minutes a day for 4–6 weeks, all from your phone. You'll be invited to:

Reflect
Reflect on moments of stress, uncertainty, or emotional discomfort in your own life. Try simple practices and share honest feedback.

Engage
Engage with short stories in several formats, including brief videos. Practice storytelling exercises designed to form new neural pathways and re-wire your brain.

Critique
At the end of the process, we ask for 60 minutes of your time to share feedback about what worked and what didn't, so we can make the app more useful for other parents in the future.
Your comfort and safety comes first.
Anything you share is confidential and will not be uploaded to the future app. You may occasionally choose to reflect on situations involving your child, but you won't be expected to disclose anything that feels too private or uncomfortable. This isn't about assessing or evaluating your parenting or your child, it's about building your skills and understanding whether the experience feels relevant, supportive, and practical for you.

Interested in helping us build something genuinely useful and supportive for parents, but have questions before you can decide if this is something you'd be willing to try out?
